
Norman G Mahin – born June 23, 1949 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Norman graduated from Waldron High School in 1967 with four years of Agriculture. He worked as a farmer until being drafted in the US Army for two years service. Was promoted to Sergeant within 15 months. Received the distinguished Army Accommodation Medal and his Honorable Discharge June 1972.
His career started in the green industry with ChemLawn Corporation in July 1972, becoming Branch Manager in 1976 through 1992. ( 38 years of progressive experience). Responsible for all aspects of a lawn care business, including budget development and analysis, profit & loss, marketing, sales, customer service, troubleshooting, accounting, and related activities. He was also involved in the daily process to interview, train, develop, evaluate, motivate and supervise branch personnel.
Norman received one of the first Indiana 3B Turf Pesticide Licenses for the State of Indiana in Oct 1976, a 3A Tree / Shrub License in 1990 and a 5a Aquatic License in 2000. Certified Mauget Tree Injector 2002.
He worked with Emerald Green (that later became Scott’s Lawn Service.) Then he went to Becker Landscape as an Account Manager being promoted to Maintenance Department Manager in 2001 before joining Berger Hargis in 2008 as Manager of Lawn Care, Tree/Shrub, Pruning, Aquatic Control and Seasonal Flowers.
His philosophy on life is “To be the best you can be at any position and make everyday count.”
